Terms of Service

1. Who we are
TalkScrolls (“we”, “the service”) is a text-first discussion community. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms.
2. Your account
You join with a username and an email address — no real name, phone number, or photo is required. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity under it. You must be old enough to consent to these Terms in your country (and at least 13).
3. Acceptable use
Be civil. Do not post unlawful, hateful, harassing, or infringing content, spam, or attempt to break, overload, or scrape the service. Moderation is community-driven through reporting; content that is reported enough may be hidden automatically, and accounts may be temporarily or permanently blocked.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a licence to store and display it so the service can function. You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it.
5. Premium & payments
The core service is free and is not deliberately crippled; free users only see ads. Optional Premium adds a few extras for supporters. Plans (monthly, annual, or a one-time lifetime) and their prices are shown at checkout, in your local currency where available.
No auto-renewal, ever. Premium is prepaid and non-recurring: we do not store your card for automatic billing and never charge you again without a new purchase you actively make. Your Premium simply expires on its end date unless you choose to extend it — no subscriptions to cancel, no surprise renewals. Lifetime Premium is a single payment that does not expire.
Payments are processed by our payment providers (Stripe, and PayPal where offered); we never see or store your full card details. Prices are inclusive of any taxes we are required to collect.
Optional paid promotion (“pinned posts”) lets a post’s author pay a one-time fee to float their own post to the top of its topic for a set period. The promotion begins immediately on purchase.
6. Refunds
If you change your mind about a Premium purchase, email support@talkscrolls.com within 14 days of the purchase and we will refund it in full. After 14 days, Premium remains valid until its end date but is non-refundable. Because paid post promotions are delivered immediately, they are non-refundable once the promotion is active. Refunds are returned to your original payment method; the payment provider’s processing fee may not be recoverable. This does not affect any stronger rights you may have under the consumer law of your country.
7. Availability & changes
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties, and may change or be unavailable at times. We may update these Terms; continued use after changes means you accept them.
8. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. If we terminate an account with active paid Premium for reasons other than a breach by you, we will refund the unused portion on a pro-rata basis.
